Replacement Front Doors Beyond Curb Appeal to

by:Gladman      2020-09-06

You don't have to do a complete home remodeling or renovation to change the look of your home and even increase its value. Replacing your front door not only creates a focal point, but it definitely adds to a home's perceived value in the real estate market. Even a premium door does not have to be a great expense to add multiple benefits to your home.

Beyond Curb Appeal

Recently, a national study by Therma-Tru doors discovered that homebuyers believe that besides beautifying your home, the right entrydoor system makes the entire home appear to be more valuable.

In a survey of homebuyers, 2,400 consumers estimated the value of various homes based on exterior appearance. The study found that consumers believed that a home with an enhanced entryway added to its perceived value by as much as five times the cost of the entry system installation. These perceptions were the same for both moderately priced and upscale homes.

'At a time when homeowners are looking to get the most out of every dollar they spend on their home, installing an attractive new front entryway is a cost-effective investment that can have a big impact,' said Peter Morrison, president of AVI who sells Therma-Tru doors and Marvin Doors in Atlanta, Georgia.

Choosing Types of Front Doors

When choosing your new door, consider replacing your existing one with a new material, style or shape. Adding exterior French doors or all glass doors with a wood or metal frame can add light to the interior while providing an elegant statement. Iron doors can be custom made in artistic patterns and include glass, again to enhance indoor daylighting.

The choice of material can also make a difference. Wood is the most traditional material, but fiberglass doors are low maintenance because they don't need to be painted. They are also extremely long lasting as they are not susceptible to wood rot and a great security choice to keep your home and family safe. Today's fiberglass doors from companies such as Integrity from Marvin and Therma-Tru simulate the look of painted or varnished wood so successfully, your guests will never guess your doors are not made from wood.

One of the best parts of changing your front door is that everyone can see and enjoy the investment, and when you add the practical benefits of enhanced security, easy maintenance and an improved home value, replacing your front door is truly an instant home makeover.
